I am excited to share a new rental place in Indianapolis. It is called Violet Vintage and you probably guessed, but they provide vintage rentals. They have a selections of furniture, tableware, accessories and more! Check out their website:

Not only do they provide rental items but they do more. If you want a vintage look for your wedding or event, you must check them ou. I have to say I LOVE vintage style and cannot wait to use some of their items. In fact, I think I already have some ideas…You may need to check out Art of the Table this year to see something.

1. Sit down with your families, and decide the basics – Here are the questions you need answered: who is doing what, what is the budget, and when are you getting married?

It is important at the start to let your family know how much help you want. They can help a lot or a little you decide, but make sure to let them know. You also need to know how much  you are working with. Everyone has a budget, everyone. Figure out what yours is before you start following in love with people and places. Finally, figure out a date. You may not come up with the exact date but figured out dates that will work for everyone.

2. Find your locations – Many times your date is set by what date your venues are open. You will find the perfect place and know you are getting married there. If it is not open on your target date, you can change the date now before anything else is decided. Since you may change your date for your locations, you do not want to book your professionals first.

3. Figure out when you need to get your dress – Now that you know your date, you need to figure out your dress shopping schedule. A wedding dress takes 4-6 months to order, plus you will most likely need time to get it altered. I tell my brides if at all possible try to order your dress seven months before your wedding. Better safe then worried. I never what a bride worried her dress will not make it in time. If you are already passed seven months, then you need to go shopping very soon.

4. Get Inspired - The best way to figure out what you want is to look at photos. This is the really fun part of wedding planning. Grab a magazine or grab your computer and get started. As we all know, you can Google anything and that includes all things weddings. Try to narrow your search to a color, season, theme, etc. This will help with not going into overload. Remember, this is suppose to be fun. If you do not know where to start, go to the main wedding sites:

These sites have tons of ideas in any theme and color scheme out there. They will allow you to see many different types of weddings quickly so you can start to learn what your wedding will look/feel like.

5. If you feel overwhelmed, look into a wedding planner – A wedding planner is no longer a luxury for the wealth. You might be surprised to know that a wedding planner is more accessible than before and could be your greatest asset. A planner can help you as much or as little as you want. We help you relax and enjoy planning your wedding. Planning a wedding can be a full-time job, and not something you have done before. Why not have someone there to be on your side and there helping you every step of the way. You deserve to have fun planning your wedding!

Personalized Fall Leaves

Chocolate Fall Leaf Wedding Favors

As the weather has started to change, leaves are going to start to turn into those beautiful autumn colors we all love.  The deep reds, rustic oranges, and golden yellows really warm the heart during the fall season.  However, those are not the only things that can bring a glow to your face or get you more excited for your perfect fall wedding!  ”Falling in love” is the perfect theme for a great fall season.  Here are some ideas for a great fall theme!  Save the date cards with leaves falling and a picture of the two of you inside the leaf.  The card could say, “Save the date! We’ve fallen in love!”  This is a cute and fun idea to send to your guests.  Next, you could decorate your table with the leaf petals shown above.  You can put your names on them or they can be used as name cards for your guests!  Whatever you choose, these can also be fun take aways from the wedding.  For a party favor, try chocolate fall leaves wrapped in those warm fall colors to thank your guests for coming to celebrate you and your fiance “Fall” in love!

I was available and I was able to talk to the bride on Sunday night. The problem was their reception was in a gym (not the bride’s first choice, but only one that worked) and the bride did not want it to look like a gym, can you blame her? On Sunday I got her linen order, so I could order linens on Monday. I then did not meet the bride at the site until Tuesday morning. We then came up with a plan on how she wanted the room decorated. Three days later we showed up and made it happen.

It is not always easy to design an entire reception room in three days, but we did and the bride and groom were extremely happy (mom and dad too). Here are some more shots from the reception.

We were excited to help this couple realize their wedding dream. Remember, even when you think you have run out of time, there is still a chance you can have what you want. It was hard work, but we are very excited we were able to get this done in less than a week.

Heavenly Sweets: Voted Best Cake by Indianapolis Monthly Magazine

We had a chance to sit down with Tanya Marshall from Heavenly Sweets.  Heavenly Sweets was voted best cake by Indianapolis Monthly Magazine and their buttercream icing is “heavenly”.  Heavenly Sweets not only bakes wonderful cakes, they also cater as well.  With two locations located in Noblesville, Indiana, be sure to visit them for your next catered event or wedding cake!  After talking with Tanya, we asked her a few questions pertaining to love.  Here is what she said!

1)    What do you love about weddings?
-”I love the response people have once they have enjoyed and seen the cake.  I like the after response  more then the initial, because i like to see the excitement from the families after they have seen and tasted the cake.”

2)  What do you love about your business?
-”We have started with a mission and we stayed true to our mission.  We wanted to have a high quality product and we have continued to produce products that we aimed for when we first started.”

3)  What is your love craving?
-”I still love my own buttercream icing.  I enjoy the sour cream buttercream icing as well.”  It’s great that after all these years, her product is something she not only enjoys making, but enjoys eating as well!

4)  What do you love about living in Indiana?
-”I love the defined four seasons: fall, winter, spring, summer.  Fall is my favorite season, but I look forward to spring time.  I love Indiana because most of my family lives here; not all my children live here, but the four seasons and my strong family ties are what I enjoy most about Indiana.”

5)  Love Advice
-”Be honest with each other before you get married. Take off the rose colored glasses and make sure you really like each other with honest eyes.  It is important to be honest with each other and to not get in a hurry.  Don’t ignore the courtship process because it is a special time.  It can get swept under the rug during wedding planning.”

Wedding invitations can be fun to create.  You can create invitations that are based off of you and your loved ones personalities, interests, hobbies, or favorite items.  If going to the movies is a hobby you both enjoy, you could make your invitation like a movie poster or movie ticket.  If you both love music or going to concerts, why not a rock poster for your wedding invitations.  If you like to travel or are having a destination wedding, you could make your invitations look like a plane ticket, boarding pass, or passport!  There are so many ways to have fun with invitations!  Not only are they fun to make, but fun to collect from other weddings you have attended!! Set your creative brain on fire.

Have you been thinking about where you would like to get married or where you would like to have your wedding reception?  The Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre has a wonderful staff and facility that will accommodate you in all your wedding needs!  We had the opportunity to sit down with Laura Buttry from the Sheraton in downtown Indianapolis.  Laura is the catering sales manager and wedding specialist at the Sheraton.  We asked her a few questions pertaining to love.

1)  What do you love about weddings?
-I love seeing the brides excitement when she is talking about her vision and then seeing it come to life on the big day.

2)  What do you love about your business?
-At the Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre, I like how we are a place for people to gather.  We are their home away from home, their family reunion for the year.  I like that they feel comfortable sitting in the lobby just chatting or can relax in the sun by the pool.

3)  What is your love craving and why?
      - I love ice cream. I could eat it any time of the year and in all different flavors.

4)  What do you love about living in Indiana?
-I grew up in a small town and moved to Indy four years ago. I love that by going 15 minutes out of the city, you are back in farm country.  It is so relaxing to leave the city behind and be in nature.

5)  Love Advice
-My love advice is to be real about marriage and love itself.  It is not always roses’ falling from the sky but this is the person that is your partner in life.  They are with you there in the morning when you aren’t looking your best and by your side proudly at the work holiday party.  There are times when you will fight and not want to be around each other but these just make you stronger.  Realize that you are different people and he doesn’t always know what you are thinking so a little hint goes along way.  Always love one another and remember to always kiss good night.

Mother’s Dress

I know you are worried about your dress and how beautiful you will be (and you will be radiant) but your mom (and his) are also probably worrying about her dress too. One of the questions I have been asked a lot in the past month is “what is the mother of the bride suppose to wear?” What color, what style, is there any rules? Here are my tips you can pass along to mom to help her out:

The dress color should not be the same as the bridesmaids. They are special and so is your mom, and they should each look special. I normally suggest colors like: champagne, mocha, grey or something that compliments your color scheme.

Style: you can suggest a length, but make sure mom is comfortable with it. Each person has their own comfort level and your mom is no different. Let her pick a dress that makes her feel as comfortable as you do.

My only other suggest is mom you should not wear the low-cut, red dress, it is the bride’s time to shine not yours. But buy the dress anyways, you have plenty of other times to look fabulous.
