Part 1 – The Good
Even though I am a wedding planner, I see nothing wrong with DIY weddings, to a point. I think that some items can easily be done by a bride and other items should be left to the professionals. This is the first part of a three-part series that I think can help you create the perfect day without breaking the bank or leaving you in tears.
Many different companies now offer DIY invitations. The styles have improved greatly over the last couple of years. If you need to save money and have the time, this can be a good option. It is important, however, that you realize this will take time and energy, so be prepared. Maybe you are good with the computer and scrapbooking and want to create your own programs. Wedding favors are another easy area to do it yourself. You could do candy in a box or maybe just a lottery ticket, either way you can save money. Below is a picture of a a favor box that could easily be done by you and filled with anything that can fit inside.
The key to any of these ideas is that you need to give yourself enough time to create your vision. If you wait until the night before your wedding to start, you will find it was easier to just spend the money.
