Indianapolis Winter Wedding at D’Amore

We have been snowed in for days and it reminded me of a winter wedding we did last December. It actually was not as cold as expected for a December wedding, but the bride was prepared with a fabulous coat. She didn’t let cold weather get in the way of some great outdoor photos.

The other exciting thing about this wedding is our bride was our January Bridal Show Winner and she won help designing her wedding. One of the comments she had when we first talked was she really liked the long tables full of people. She did not think it would happen, but we showed her how she could mix both rounds and long tables together to create a look just for her. It turned out great and we could not have been more pleased.

Please enjoy the photos below of Amy and Ryne’s Rustic Winter Wonderland.

Art of the Table 2013 – Ruffles & Roses Table

I know it is July and several months past Art of the Table. I thought it would be fun this year to wait several months so that everyone could have another taster of Art of the Table in the middle of the year. I have had the great honor of helping with this event since 2010. For this year’s table, I wanted to do something with a rustic touch. Instead of doing a rustic table with all the touches most people use, I wanted to add a twist. I ended up calling our table Rustic Glam Chic. The table was designed to be romantic and chic with a touch of rustic. I wanted guests to see that there are different ways to use rustic. Here are the photos from the event.

I enjoy this event every year and cannot wait until next year (yes, I already have started designing my table)! In case you do not know about this event, it is a table design event by the Association of Bridal Consultants – Indiana Chapter. It features tables designed by some of the best planners and florists in Indiana. It was started in 2004 to honor Betty Jackson, a fellow planner taken from us too soon.

Make sure to mark your calendars for next year’s 10th Anniversary celebration March 2, 2014. You will not want to miss this year as we have many specials touches for the 10th Anniversary. Go to www.artofthetable.info to find out more, see photos from all the tables, and how you too can become a designer.

We love to hear comments about our table design, what did you think?

Art of the Table 2013

It is that time a year again – Art of the Table. In case you do not know, this is a design event put on by the Indiana Chapter of the Association of Bridal Consultants. We will have 25 designers and/or florists designing amazing tablescapes. It is the one time a year many of us designers get to put the limit and really create that over-the-top look. This is a must see for all brides who want inspiration for their wedding. Best of all, we donate the proceeds to the American Heart Association and the Betty Jackson Education Fund. Who is Betty Jackson you may ask? She is a fellow planner who was taken from us too early by cancer. This event was created to honor her and her passions. Here are the details:

Ombre Wedding Cakes

One of the hottest trends from last year that is still going strong into the new year is Ombre. One of my favorite places to see ombre is in the cake. (Maybe that is because I have a sweet tooth, hhhmmmm…..)

Here are some great examples:

I love the idea of the cake being a combination of the same color. You can instantly make your wedding cake interesting by changing the color from top to bottom. Simple, yet elegant.

Also, who says you have to stop at the outside of the cake. Think about adding ombre layers inside your cake too!

Art of the Table 2012 Photos

We are excited to share our table photos for Art of the Table 2012. This year’s event was great as always. As a committee member we were excited to see 29 table designs, the most we have ever had. All of the designers went over the top a pulled off amazing designs. The great thing about this event is that it caters to everyone. Whether you are planning a romantic, contemporary or beach wedding, you could see a design in your style. Even if you were not planning a wedding, we had a design for you too. Please enjoy our two tables, we had a blast creating them!

Base Linen – Chair Cover & Linens

This was our romantic wedding table. We fell in LOVE with these linens from Wildflower and had to design a table around them. The idea for the centerpiece was a garden that has gone a bit wild and is overgrown. The best part about Lilly Lane’s design (besides the roses of course!) was that as you moved around the table you were greeted with a different look. It made the table interesting and fun to look around, you never knew what was around the corner.

Our second table we went a little wild and did a social table. This is a little girl’s birthday party themed as Alice and Wonderland’s Mad Hatter Tea Party. This is a fun theme to work with because anything goes. The Mad Hatter Tea Party was a crazy UnBirthday Party with tons of teapots and cups. We use this idea and expanded it to include giant teacups for our topsy-turvy cake and flower display. We picked the top linen because of its fun color changing feature. The bubbles are one long linen that changes colors depending on what is below it. How fun! Can you imagine being a little girl and having your very own grown up tea party? I cannot wait until I can use these for a real party.

Hope you enjoyed our photos, we enjoyed designing them.  What is your favorite party of our table designs?

Love Inspirations: Fabric Flower Ideas

This past weekend I attending a regional meeting for the Association of Bridal Consultants and was honored to design a table for lunch. I was given the colors fuchsia, apple green, and black and white stripes. The only other stipulation was to try to not use fresh flowers (we were trying to keep the cost down). I decided to create a design using fabric. I created fabric ruffles orbs and fabric flowers. I am very pleased with how they turned out.

We have decided that this is a great accent to any wedding. We will soon be offering fabric flowers you can purchase to accent your wedding or event. We will also be creating keepsake bouquets. This will be a great way to have a wedding memory keep forever. Email us at hello {at} rufflesroses.com to be emailed when these items are available.

What do you think of the fabric flowers? How would you use them?

Love Stories: Robbie & Stephanie

We are so excited that we get to be sharing some beautiful photos from our August 13th wedding at the Eiteljorg. I met this couple at the end of December last year and worked with them all year to create their perfect day. I enjoyed meeting and working with the whole family and in fact, miss not talking to them on a regular basis. The rain held off that day for the outside ceremony, our only hitch was the practicing bands behind the ceremony site. I think Stephanie’s dad said it best in his welcome speech when he said, “it is hard to get 30 rival bands to play together, but they did for Stephanie’s wedding.” It may not have been ideal but it will be a memory. Please enjoy the photos!

Love Inspirations: “Falling” in Love

Personalized Fall Leaves
Falling In Love Save the Date Cards

Chocolate Fall Leaf Wedding Favors

As the weather has started to change, leaves are going to start to turn into those beautiful autumn colors we all love.  The deep reds, rustic oranges, and golden yellows really warm the heart during the fall season.  However, those are not the only things that can bring a glow to your face or get you more excited for your perfect fall wedding!  “Falling in love” is the perfect theme for a great fall season.  Here are some ideas for a great fall theme!  Save the date cards with leaves falling and a picture of the two of you inside the leaf.  The card could say, “Save the date! We’ve fallen in love!”  This is a cute and fun idea to send to your guests.  Next, you could decorate your table with the leaf petals shown above.  You can put your names on them or they can be used as name cards for your guests!  Whatever you choose, these can also be fun take aways from the wedding.  For a party favor, try chocolate fall leaves wrapped in those warm fall colors to thank your guests for coming to celebrate you and your fiance “Fall” in love!

Do you have a fall wedding?  What are some ideas you are planning for your reception and wedding day?  We would love to hear what you are “falling” in love with this fall!

Love Stories: Gary and Tammy

A couple of weekends ago I receive a call from a father asking me if I was available for the August 27th weekend, the call was on August 20th one week away. I was available and I was able to talk to the bride on Sunday night. The problem was their reception was in a gym (not the bride’s first choice, but only one that worked) and the bride did not want it to look like a gym, can you blame her? On Sunday I got her linen order, so I could order linens on Monday. I then did not meet the bride at the site until Tuesday morning. We then came up with a plan on how she wanted the room decorated. Three days later we showed up and made it happen.

What we started with

What we ended up with

It is not always easy to design an entire reception room in three days, but we did and the bride and groom were extremely happy (mom and dad too). Here are some more shots from the reception.

Half the Room – Love the Black Table Cloths with Ivory Napkins

Table Shot – Accents of Purple and Green

Fun Idea – The centerpiece at every table was a cake, uuummmm!

Head Table – Adding Drama

The Bride Loved My Ruffle Table – So I gave it to Her

Drama on the Dance Floor – This Helped Transform this Room

We were excited to help this couple realize their wedding dream. Remember, even when you think you have run out of time, there is still a chance you can have what you want. It was hard work, but we are very excited we were able to get this done in less than a week.

What do you think, did we transform the gym?
