Art of the Table 2014 – Ruffles & Roses Baby Shower Table

Back on March 1st and 2nd was Art of the Table 2014 and it was the 10th Anniversary Celebration. This is becoming one of my favorite events each year as it showcases some of the best designers, florists, and planners in the Indianapolis area. It is always amazing for me to see what my industry friends come up with each year. Instead of just one table this year, I created two.

I actually started out planning just one, but after spending all day in the linen warehouse, I fell in LOVE with the chevron sequins linen and the concept I could use it for. So after a little grumble at myself for the extra work, I set out to create a chic, sophisticated, adult baby shower. Many of us have had the joy of hosting a baby shower for a family member or friend. What I wanted to do with this design is show how we should cater to the new mom and not necessarily the baby. Babies are great, but this party is for mom so why not make it designed for her.

For our table, we wanted a very adult, chic look. Our new mom loves sparkle so the chevron linen was the perfect fit. At the same time we did not forget about baby so we used the colors of her new room – purple and silver. We were very pleased with how this table turned out and we hope you enjoy it too. Finally, we feel very honored to have received the Art of the Table Best Theme Award for this table. It was a labor of love and we are glad the judges loved it too!

Art of the Table 2013 – Ruffles & Roses Table

I know it is July and several months past Art of the Table. I thought it would be fun this year to wait several months so that everyone could have another taster of Art of the Table in the middle of the year. I have had the great honor of helping with this event since 2010. For this year’s table, I wanted to do something with a rustic touch. Instead of doing a rustic table with all the touches most people use, I wanted to add a twist. I ended up calling our table Rustic Glam Chic. The table was designed to be romantic and chic with a touch of rustic. I wanted guests to see that there are different ways to use rustic. Here are the photos from the event.

I enjoy this event every year and cannot wait until next year (yes, I already have started designing my table)! In case you do not know about this event, it is a table design event by the Association of Bridal Consultants – Indiana Chapter. It features tables designed by some of the best planners and florists in Indiana. It was started in 2004 to honor Betty Jackson, a fellow planner taken from us too soon.

Make sure to mark your calendars for next year’s 10th Anniversary celebration March 2, 2014. You will not want to miss this year as we have many specials touches for the 10th Anniversary. Go to to find out more, see photos from all the tables, and how you too can become a designer.

We love to hear comments about our table design, what did you think?

Art of the Table 2013

This is a must see for all brides who want inspiration for their wedding. Best of all, we donate the proceeds to the American Heart Association and the Betty Jackson Education Fund. Who is Betty Jackson you may ask? She is a fellow planner who was taken from us too early by cancer. This event was created to honor her and her passions. Here are the details:

Art of the Table 2012 Photos

We are excited to share our table photos for Art of the Table 2012. This year’s event was great as always. As a committee member we were excited to see 29 table designs, the most we have ever had. All of the designers went over the top a pulled off amazing designs. The great thing about this event is that it caters to everyone. Whether you are planning a romantic, contemporary or beach wedding, you could see a design in your style. Even if you were not planning a wedding, we had a design for you too. Please enjoy our two tables, we had a blast creating them!

This was our romantic wedding table. We fell in LOVE with these linens from Wildflower and had to design a table around them. The idea for the centerpiece was a garden that has gone a bit wild and is overgrown. The best part about Lilly Lane’s design (besides the roses of course!) was that as you moved around the table you were greeted with a different look. It made the table interesting and fun to look around, you never knew what was around the corner.

Our second table we went a little wild and did a social table. This is a little girl’s birthday party themed as Alice and Wonderland’s Mad Hatter Tea Party. This is a fun theme to work with because anything goes. The Mad Hatter Tea Party was a crazy UnBirthday Party with tons of teapots and cups. We use this idea and expanded it to include giant teacups for our topsy-turvy cake and flower display. We picked the top linen because of its fun color changing feature. The bubbles are one long linen that changes colors depending on what is below it. How fun! Can you imagine being a little girl and having your very own grown up tea party? I cannot wait until I can use these for a real party.

Check out the entire event photos at the Art of the Table website.

Hope you enjoyed our photos, we enjoyed designing them.  What is your favorite party of our table designs?

Art of the Table 2011 Photos

Sorry for the delay, but here are the photos. I posted awhile back a design board I created for our design, click here to see it. I wanted to show how a design board becomes a real design. The board is never exact, but gets you an idea of what you want. We were happy with how our table turned out and we hope you enjoy it. As a reminder, our theme was Christmas, winter, luncheon. We did a fun twist on Christmas by using a fresh green and our “red” was just our drink and cupcakes. You do not have to be so literal with a theme. You can had hints of it and still have fun with the design.

Art of the Table 2011 – Design Board

Below is my design board I made for inspiration for Art of the Table. I am working with Tanya from Heavenly Sweets and since I am a visual person I made this board so Tanya could see my thoughts. This year each table is a season, gem or stone and event. We have chosen silver, winter, and Christmas. As you will see below, we are not doing a “traditional” Christmas table. You will not be seeing a red and green table. Instead, you will be seeing a citron green, ivory and white design. We invite you to come and view our table and enjoy some of Heavenly Sweets’ cupcakes.

This is a great design event that you do not want to miss. Come see how our design board translated to our table.

Art of the Table

Yesterday I was able to attend/work Art of the Table. This is an event hosted by the Association of Bridal Consultants Indiana Chapter as a fundraiser for the Betty Jackson Scholarship Fund and the American Cancer Society. Local planners, florists, and other designers create beautiful tables. This year the designers did an incredible job and we were entertained by amazing table scape. It was a great event and next year you should go. You will not be disappointed.
