I know it is July and several months past Art of the Table. I thought it would be fun this year to wait several months so that everyone could have another taster of Art of the Table in the middle of the year. I have had the great honor of helping with this event since 2010. For this year’s table, I wanted to do something with a rustic touch. Instead of doing a rustic table with all the touches most people use, I wanted to add a twist. I ended up calling our table Rustic Glam Chic. The table was designed to be romantic and chic with a touch of rustic. I wanted guests to see that there are different ways to use rustic. Here are the photos from the event.
I enjoy this event every year and cannot wait until next year (yes, I already have started designing my table)! In case you do not know about this event, it is a table design event by the Association of Bridal Consultants – Indiana Chapter. It features tables designed by some of the best planners and florists in Indiana. It was started in 2004 to honor Betty Jackson, a fellow planner taken from us too soon.
Make sure to mark your calendars for next year’s 10th Anniversary celebration March 2, 2014. You will not want to miss this year as we have many specials touches for the 10th Anniversary. Go to www.artofthetable.info to find out more, see photos from all the tables, and how you too can become a designer.
We love to hear comments about our table design, what did you think?
It is that time a year again – Art of the Table. In case you do not know, this is a design event put on by the Indiana Chapter of the Association of Bridal Consultants. We will have 25 designers and/or florists designing amazing tablescapes. It is the one time a year many of us designers get to put the limit and really create that over-the-top look. This is a must see for all brides who want inspiration for their wedding. Best of all, we donate the proceeds to the American Heart Association and the Betty Jackson Education Fund. Who is Betty Jackson you may ask? She is a fellow planner who was taken from us too early by cancer. This event was created to honor her and her passions. Here are the details:

I would also like to take some time and thank the generous sponsors who give of their time and product so we can create this great event.
In honor of Earth Day today, I decide to share an idea about a creative centerpiece for your reception. A trend right now is to use tall branches to make a dramatic centerpiece. The twist that I am suggesting is to use an actual tree. Purchase small trees that you can place in nice pots and instantly you have an amazing centerpiece.
You can use a flowering tree like the one pictured above, to a more standard tree with mainly branches. You can add the same flowers and/or adornments you would add if it was just branches and around the tree you can add additional plants or just candles to set the mood. Guests will be amazed that an actual tree is on their table.
Another great use for the tree is to make the tree themselves your favors. This makes them more eco-friendly, since you are using them for two purposes. Allow parents, grandparents, other special relatives, and of course you to take them home and plant these trees in their yards. This will give the special people in your life a piece of your wedding memory they can savor for years to come. You can tell your grandchildren one day that the tree they are leaning against was from your wedding.
